How to Modify Text (bolden, create hyperlinks, etc.)
1. Begin by logging into the Manager area of the website (if you do not know how to login to the Manager area, please see the tutorial entitled “General Overview”).2. Next right-click the document you want to edit text on and choose “Edit Document”. For example, if you want to make bold or italicize text on the “Contact Us” web page, you would right-click the “Contact Us” document in the left hand tree diagram and choose “Edit Document”.
3. Next scroll down to the “Document Content” section of your document to where the text is written. For those familiar with using Microsoft Word, the following steps will be very familiar and easy.
4. Highlight the text you want to modify. For example, if you want to modify (make bold, italicize, etc.) some text you’ve already written, highlight that text by placing your mouse over the text, holding your left mouse button down and dragging your mouse over the text. While your text is highlighted, choose from the options that are at the top of your Document content box. For example, you will see a dark “B”, an italicized “I” and an underlined “U” among other options. With your text highlighted, the following will occur when choosing these options:
- If you click the dark “B”, your highlighted text will become bold.
- If you click the italicized “I”, your highlighted text will become italicized.
- If you click the underlined “U”, your highlighted text will become underlined.
- Link URL: if you want to put a link to another website’s URL (like CNN), you would copy the full URL from the website you want to link to (in this example: http://www.cnn.com), paste it in this field and then click “Insert” in the bottom left hand corner of this pop up box.
- Link list: if want to link to another page within this website and not to another website (like we did in the previous example), click the drop down button to the right of “Link list” and immediately you will see the various pages within this website. Choose the one you want, and then click “Insert” on the bottom left hand corner of this pop up box.
- Target: if you want to the link to open a new browser when the link is clicked on by the visitor to your website, choose “Open link in a new window”. If you want the browser to stay in the same browser window when they click on the link, simply leave the default of “Open link in the same window”.
7. If you do not see any changes on the page you just modified, simply refresh that page and the change should show up.
